Arnold's Aspen is one of the easier plans for a DIY builder. (Mended Oak Scale 4 out of 10). No special lumber. No truss engineering. Minimal cuts for the rafters. No collar ties and ceiling joists that sit square. Cool and heat with two mini-splits or a small central unit.

Width needed is 17 feet plus set-backs. Depth is 50 feet.

Subnote: Truss Plans are purchased separately from a truss manufacturer and aren't part of the plan-set price. If you'd like to use trusses, we recommend getting three quotes. (Florida Only: After you pick the one you prefer, we'll give them the design information they need, review their engineered truss package for your home, and update your plans so everything fits together smoothly. Selecting the truss option typically delays delivery by four to six weeks).
