We provide complete architectural plans (which includes Florida PE-stamped structural plans for Florida projects) for a 1 Car, 1,097 sq. ft. garage engineered for the conditions at your site. With a 26' x 24' footprint, this design fits comfortably on a small lot or in‑fill parcel. Like all our plans, we designed this one for straight-forward, low-cost construction.
This 16’x24’ garage plan is one of the easiest to construct that you will find (Mended Oak Scale 2 out of 10). The plans are for a one-car garage with a porch on the side. The structure features four walls and a roof, with a sloped-roof porch along one side. If you are handy but have never taken on a construction project before, this is a great model to start with. A motivated two-person crew with a little skill and motivation can complete this project over a series of weekends. It’s an excellent way to discover your capabilities, build confidence, and teach trades to the next generation, while also adding a practical, usable space to your property.
Upon completion, you will have conventionally framed the roof and created spaces with a vaulted ceiling, though an open ceiling is also an option. Additionally, you will construct balloon-framed rake walls alongside traditional platform-framed walls and install windows and doors.
Based on prices at Lowes and Home Depot, as of February 2026, the materials would run about $19,000. The materials for the shell (foundation, framing, siding with trim, windows, doors, and roofing) would run $14,500.
Note: We strongly recommend having garage doors installed by a professional. Attempting to load a garage door spring improperly can result in serious injury or death.
