Ron's Plum
Ron’s Plum originated as idea from one of our first customers. Ron had an idea to put some houses on some land he owned to meet a need for housing while and generate some income for his business. We developed this plan with his needs and the needs of his clients in mind. Small families in need of a home who value both privacy and time together and time with friends. This is a house for neighborhood living.
If you choose this model, we provide complete architectural plans and PE stamped structural plans for a 3‑bedroom, 2‑bath home with a two‑car garage at the front. With a 35'x50' footprint, this design was created to fit comfortably on most suburban lots as well as the in‑fill parcels common in many municipalities. Like all Mended Oak homes, the layout balances space for fellowship and community with the need for privacy and retreat. An open living/dining room welcomes you as you enter, flowing into a spacious kitchen. A central hallway leads to bedrooms - but no through traffic in that area. To get the back yard, there's a doorway to small porch allowing access to the backyard.
For DIY builders: This is a more ambitious project for a do‑it‑yourself builder (Mended Oak Scale: 7 out of 10). The two car garage door, compression roof, and wide spans make it a challenge. If you plan to build it yourself, make sure you or someone on your team is knowledgeable in construction, and have reliable help to call on when needed. All required materials can be purchased from your local big‑box or wholesale building supply store. By the time you’re finished, you will have constructed traditional platform‑framed walls, interior shear walls, raked walls, conventionally framed ceilings and roofs, gable faces, and installed multiple windows and doors. Watching DIY tutorials ahead of time is strongly recommended so you can decide which tasks you want to take on personally.
About the Finished Home: At Mended Oak, we believe a home should foster connection while still offering quiet spaces for rest and renewal. This 3‑bedroom, 2‑bath design provides both—comfortable shared areas for gathering and private rooms for retreat.
